my mom came in this weekend from North Carolina so I've been doing a lot of eating, sightseeing and walking. We hit up a few of my favorite Harlem eats such as Red Rooster (where I had the most delish French toast of my life) and Melba's where I had the best catfish and pound cake. friends...I ate like a queen this weekend but I definitely burned it all off with all the walking we did.
Red Rooster in Harlem, I got the French toast and shrimp grits. The French toast was wow! The shrimp grits were delish but not as good as Peels.
Of course I took my mom and her friend to Times Square and afterwards we got a drink at The Living Room in the W Hotel Times Square. It's one of my favorite places in the city to relax and I love the décor.
The theme for the décor was punk and they have stunning blown up photos of Madonna all around the space. It was pretty cool to check them all out.
Dinner at Melba's one of my favorite restaurants in Harlem. I always order the same thing...Catfish with collard greens and yams. I was not disappointed. The fish is always fresh and flaky. YUM!
Did a little shopping at Forever 21. I got a cool Tupac Muscle tank and a mesh bra for $21. lol. Pretty good deal I think. I love this cab they have on the bottom floor of the store too.
Took my mom to Columbus Circle and then through the park on one of those bike sleighs. It was pretty fun! then we popped over to 5th Avenue for some window shopping and photo taking before checking out Rockefeller Center. It was a day full of sites to see and I had a great time. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

easy breezy DVF

 photo IMG_3740683x1024_zps84716083.jpg
this DVF jumpsuit is one of my summer favorites and best buys from Nordstroms Rack, next to these awesome shorts and these DVF sandals. I love that its so easy and light. When its ridiculously humid like it was today this is perfect with the side slits to catch all the little breezes that happened spontaneously throughout the day.

what men want you to wear

 photo IMG_3580683x1024_zps1d13a642.jpg
I read somewhere that if a guy had to see you in clothes (they prefer you naked) that they'd just want to see you in jeans and a plain tee-shirt. Well...its simple enough lol. I wore this outfit last week but seriously its getting entirely too hot for jeans, even comfy boyfriend jeans! At the moment its a scorching 90 something and I prefer to be in my apartment...the way men really prefer women. lol. That's one thing I truly miss about Southern living...the central air conditioning. Lord knows this window unit is just about useless right now. Ahh to be a New Yorker. It definitely has its ups...and its downs.

Top: H&M | Jeans: ASOS | Shoes: Alexander Wang via The Outnet | Sunnies: Ray Ban
I do love these jeans that I scorned at ASOS. They have a great selection of boyfriend jeans in all washes and cuts. I like the army print design on the pockets of these jeans though. That's really what caught my eye. Anywho, looks like the pool in my neighborhood was finally filled so you know what that means....plenty of bathing suit shopping in the next few weeks. I still have this great Marc Jacobs swimsuit from my trip to Barcelona last year...but im itching for a new one like this one or this one.
